Fabrics intended for domestic and personal use tend to become impregnated with humidity and to remain stably at a temperature close to that of the human body. These conditions are optimal for the development of various types of bacteria that exploit the organic content of body moisture for their nourishment.
The resulting degenerative process is usually the cause of allergies and the development of bad smells silver represents a definitive solution to these problems. the rediscovery of silver for pharmaceutical use as an alternative inorganic antibiotic to penicillin and tetracyclines dates back to the second half of the 1970s. Silver is a process that allows the antibacterial properties of silver to be used in the manufacture of fabrics; an infinitesimal quantity of silver is dispersed in a perfectly uniform way within the molecular chains that make up the textile fibres, giving rise to the continuous release of silver ions for a virtually infinite time. Silver acts definitively against dust mites (Dermatofagoides pteronissimus), interrupting their feeding and reproduction cycle.
It guarantees long-lasting freshness to the fabric, avoiding the development of bad smells and making frequent washing useless, with consequent energy savings for maintenance operations on finished garments for personal use.
